Shimadzu, a pioneer in angiography systems using direct-conversion FPDs, has developed a big-plane system that produces even higher quality images and ensures interventional procedures are safe and smooth.


The ultra-high-definition images provided by Safire's direct conversion technology are outstanding for rendering fine blood vessels in the head, as well as showing clearly all guide wires, microcatheters, coils, and other sensitive devices.

And installation of our new image processor SUREengine has made it possible to improve quality even further.

Perform advanced-level treatments (interventions) using slender C-arms that, together with this system's ultra-compact design, ensure easy positioning during bi-plane operation, together with a multiprocessor-equipped digital system for fast response.

Direct Conversion Provides Outstanding Image Sharpness

To render micro-vessels and devices clearly, the design of this system's direct-conversion FPD uses extremely small pixels of just 150µm.

Bransist Safire's clear rendering of micro-vessels and sensitive devices used for interventional procedures provides a powerful tool for examinations and treatments.

Ultra-High-Definition Real-Time DSA

The Bransist Safire vascular package was developed for optimal support of interventional procedures with excellent visibility of fine blood vessels and devices over the entire field of view range.

The high-performance flat-panel detector is based on the revolutionary Direct-Conversation technology, achieving enhanced visibility while easily visulaizing even the smallest devices available today.

Class-Leading 17-inch Wide Field of View Detector

By utilizing a 17-inch FOV, a single image can cover the entire abdomen, thorax, or both legs, while also retaining fine resolution of the body part. By using a larger FOV, the system can reduce the number of contrast medium injections, fluoroscopy positioning operations, and relieve the patient burden during procedures.

Bransist Safire VF17 Floor-Mounted—Wide Coverage with Patient Safety

Although the Bransist Safire VF17 is floor-mounted, it can perform examinations on all areas of the body thanks to the world's first triple-pivot design (three axes), located at the base of the frontal arm.

Transverse coverage is up to 140 cm so there is no need to move the patient or pivot the tabletop, even for catheter approaches or when imaging the wrist and arm. Positioning that allows approaches from the head are effective for cerebral examinations and for pediatric examinations.

  • In-Line C-arm Ensures Home Position. This is the position for normal examinations. The inline design layout of the C-arm permits easy access to the patient’s feet from both sides of the table, with sufficient free space to install other medical equipment.
  • Safe Femoral Catheter Approach Multi Position. This is a useful position for femoral catheter approach. Good access is provided for nursing staff from the head-end making this position effective for the examination of children.
  • Safe Brachial and Radial Catheter Approach Hand Access. This is the first floor-mounted C-arm in the world to also offer transverse movement. Transverse coverage exceeding 140 cm permits both brachial and radial catheter approaches without moving the patient or rotating the table.

  • Safe brachial, radial or femoral approach. The ceiling-mounted C-arm offers a wide coverage, extending 160 cm laterally and 287 cm longitudinally
  • Wide range of control within the Angiography Room. In addition to basic imaging operations, such as multi-display and split display, zoom, measurement and stopwatch, the IVR NEO controller permits accurate control of the overall system from the angiography lab, including setting imaging techniques, switching fluoroscopy modes and recording fluoroscopic images.
  • New auto positioning DirectMemory. The new DirectMemory unit intuitively calls up C-arm clinical angles for a patient and allows rapid repositioning. DirectMemory provides powerful support for smooth, stress-free diagnostic catheterization and interventional procedures.

Versatile, Safe Operation

The Bransist Safire VC17 and VF17 feature a tableside controller for all C-arm and image operations, with the ability for switching between fluoroscopy and radiography protocols.

This versatile controller offers the operator great ease-of-use. IntelliShield allows the FPD to detect the patient and automatically stop C-arm operation, allowing the operator to use the high-speed C-arm with complete confidence.

IntelliShield is a contact-avoidance function that uses capacitive sensors embedded around the FPD to automatically stop C-arm operation when the patient is detected.

In addition, a touch-type safety sensor is provided at the center of the FPD where detection is difficult. These duplicate safety mechanisms allow the operator to sue the high-speed C-arm with complete confidence.

IVR-Support Applications

  • Efficient patient-friendly RSM-DSA chasing. RSM-DSA Chasing is a new application with a multitude of patient benefits since it greatly reduces the amount of contrast medium required, patient does not need to be strapped down, flexible framing is performed in conjunction with contrast medium flow, and patient radiation dose is reduced since a mask run is not required.
  • Supporting operations and interventions. Useful for preoperative therapy planning and postoperative result judgments, RSM-DSA provides 3D-like detailed information of complex blood vessels and identifies nutrient vessels.
  • Breath holding not required with RSM-DSA. Since RSM-DSA is not affected by artifacts caused by bodily or respiratory movements, this feature is superbly suited for contrast examinations during emergencies and for portal veins requiring prolonged breath holding.

Flexible C-Arm Settings

  • Triple-pivot design allows easy movement of the C-arm to a wide variety of positions.

The Hand Access feature moves the floor-mounted frontal C-arm laterally, parallel to the table and is especially useful for both transradial and brachial catheterizations. Furthermore, the Multi Position setting provides a large space at the head, which makes approaching the patient and handling equipment easy, even when the units are used as a bi-plane system.
